Hi all...still new to this thread here..just posting some sketches done a few months ago at work...feel free to advise!
Hi welcome, not bad very Hk style cool
The detailing is great, overall composition is nice, and the eye expressions are also pretty good for all the pics.
For first 2 pics, the mouth region can be more exagerrated/expressive - eg, for first pic, the mouth can be wider and more open/shouting kind of look, to match the fierceness/strength in the eyes; for 2nd pic, the mouth can be smaller/more dainty, as befits a pretty girl.
For the third pic the character's hand seems to be clutching the blade of the sword, this might be rather painful. For fourth pic the curves n flow is very nice. ^^

alienj-thanks..actually after reading hk comics and jap comics for so long..i really dun know whether its more hk style or jap style..will post a few more pics soon and you take a look for me k..
lin-will take note for fierce expressions next time.actually i am not very good with girls..normally have to use references of pictures from magazines ..will try more girls in the future...the blade was actually a last min input into the pic..and i was lazy to redraw the hand part again..so sharp of u to spot my laziness.:xD:.ha..thanks for your feedback.
anyway i was watching legend of the condor heros and decided to draw them according to my own imaginations of the characters..
1st= Guo Jing
2nd= Huang Rong
3rd=Yang Kang
4th= Guo Jing shooting condors
5th= Huang Yao Shi
whoooo pretty nice!
i like guo jing most! very dynamic with all the dragon effects :D

BNN-thanks a lot..normally the first one is always the one with the most effort..ha
these are the remaining characters tat i got for legend of the condor heros..and tat sums up wat i have for this series
they are:
1st= Ouyang Feng
2nd= Yi Deng Da Shi
3rd= Hong Qi Gong
4th= Zhou Bo Tong
5th=Mu Nian Ci
will post a new set of series of most of the chinese gods like sun wu kong,ne zha, er lang shen etc soon...hopefully...

This are the characters tat i designed based on the chinese gods..
a rough guide of the story is tat one of the sea dragon prince decided to take over the world and had a fierce battle with the gods.in the end most of the gods were turned into the allies of the sea dragon prince as they were defeated individually.so its up the remaining few gods to team up and search for the fallen gods to send them back to their place in heaven.
Main character 1=Sun Wu Kong

Wow, great character designs! I like the backgrounds; really complements and shows off their characteristics. The costume detailings are great too. I think the perspective for the legs are not quite perfect yet but otherwise everything else looks really good to me. ^^
And Sun Wukong is very shuai! O.O (But I like the last, "alternate design" one best. XP )
Love that wild look, and that armour design looks natural, and the detailing is great! Will he be in any comic soon? Or is in a comic already? Want to see... :smilieDumb:
oh ya, yes, the monkey sidekick is adorable too. The robot version is pretty special. ^^

alienj & lin--thanks for the feedback.i am experimental some drawing techiques at the moment so will try to work on them more.esp the hands and legs.will try stealing master from alienj's and the others's pics.ha..
i initially just drew the armoured wu kong as a flashback for him but i like it so much tat i decided to revive tat image as a form of his powers.i considered tat wu kong is the main character and i will be drawing him quite often therefore getting him in an armour will be so tedious and time consuming.:cry:
a brief description of sun wu kong
the jade emperor drew out part of wu kong's power and stored it in a power storage cube which took the form of a mini robotic wu kong(ling hou).
therefore Ling Hou can utilised the power inside him and transform into a huge monkey to aid wu kong in his battles.(pic 3)
and once ling hou(mini robot monkey) and wu kong(evolved human look) combine their powers together.it will give you the original sun wu kong(the one in armour) which has the power to wreck havoc through the heaven earth hell realms.

Interesting story, and the idea about thet cloud is hilarious! XD
To be more specific, actually I like the last "armoured" version of wukong not because of the armour. I just felt his figure(leaner compared to very first pic) and face shape looked better and I liked the wilder hair and sideburns. XP

BNN--thanks..came out with the idea after one of my friends burp and farted almost at the same time...
Up next is Ne Zha..the 3rd son of Li Jing
he was one of the survivors from the heaven riot as he was attending anger managment classes on earth.so wu kong enlisted his help and he became the 2nd member of the party.

i think most prob they will stay black and white for a while.i do not have any drawing templates or softwares tat i can work with.so i am still sticking with the old school pencil and paper.ha
other den those redrawn in 2008..the other pics are already laminated.so hoefully there is an improvement in facial features since last time..:xD:
Yup your anatomy need to improve a lot more - e.g. the 3rd picture - shoulders look off. And like what was previously mentioned - facial features are also off. For the 1st picture, the exaggerating pose is very typical manga style, however the way the right leg bends looks a bit off. I think try to get more comfortable with anatomy first before trying out the dynamic poses.
I like the creativity you put into your drawing, if you continue to put much attention to the details, you will surely continue to come up with fantastic works.

I really like your story ideas; creative and it also bounces a chord off the modern world - anger management (!)--> I really LOLed at that. XDD
Pics wise, the weapons and costume design are really good; have the "medevial chinese yet updated" feel. Btw, was the change in the position of his braid from left to right deliberate?

No problem la, I also hafta spend great effort to keep track of my characters' left n right; that's why I tend to notice this sort of stuff in character pics. XP

Cool rendtion of chinese fantasy characters, especially Wukong. If you want to pull off warped pestective, I highly reccomend you take a look FLCL by Gainax. They love to pull off such shots.

Re: Er Lang Shen >> This one seems to have the most changes compared to 2005. The 2005 version looks more "elegant gentleman" but I like the 2008 version! Cos more edgy, awesome looking. I mean, after all, he's like the heavenly "head of police" right? Gotta feel the power, and the 2008 ver does a good job of that. I especially like the concept of that doggy as the "Hound of Fire and Lightning"! Just 1 crit, though; for the first pic, the lower body seems a bit small compared to the upper, and also he seems to have only 1 butt under the armour... :o

lin--i did two butts at first..but it looks really butty..ha..so i decided to have some loose cloth feel around his butt..but i guess i should have done the two butts..thanks for looking out!

i drew lin's one based one the experiment tat you done last time...and gave him a freebie on his way home..
alienj's is based on the new character tat he designed--the reaper!!wasnt sure how to deal with his right leg..so did i put it correctly?
btw i am running out of space for the attachments...who shall i handle this issue??
The Reaper looks really cool. I like his expression very much.
My chara: Wa, you really have a way with weapons! That axe is awesome. ^^ And he looks way cool too! <3 You gave him that "hero" feeling that I haven't quite managed yet. XP The texture on his arm is pretty scary; but ya, it's supposed to be a bit scary. ^^ I also like the other hand, the one that is holding the weapon; it looks very natural. 8D

ah... regarding the lack of space... I think you'll hafta host the image elsewhere (one of those free hosting sites) and hotlink them here. I dun like doing this, though, so what I did was I just went and reduced the size of all my images. Ya, temporary solution only, i knoe. >.<
haha.. dude my reaper suddenly become so man, haha... Love it man. haha.. by seeing it i got more idea to upgrade my Reaper liao. for the leg is abit off like abit small but still is good.

as he is not as well known as the rest.i will intro him a bit.Tai Bai Jin Xing is actually the old man in "Journey to the west" who was ordered by Jade Emperor to go to Flower Fruit Mountain to invite wu kong to take up the post in the heaven.

Wow, that's a very creative take on Tai Bai Jing Xing. I would never have thought to change his image from old man to young boy, but I think it can work in the story very well. As usual, great work on the costume/tools and character design in general! ^^V

alienj--thanks aj..just to mention tat tai bai jin xing is an element character so in order for him to elevate in the air..he needs "sky"+"wind"+"flight"+"soar" elements..ha..

Wa, the Jade Emporer's "Casual" is still pretty elaborate wor. But I suppose he is emperor so will be like that ba. Hmmm, for this maybe you have to be a bit careful with the inner collar area>> the real neck length and shoulder starting point is there, right? Then the armholes of the outer jacket might look too high liao for a hand to stick thru.
The face and beard is great; he looks convincingly "older" and "with authority". ^^

the 2nd of the powerhouse characters will be : Buddha
not much difference to the buddha you can see in temples..
Short description on buddha
as buddha used his powers to save the human world..he over used his powers and was forced to take the form of a teenager..the tattoos on his back and legs are references of the status of the human world..once he is covered in the tattoos..tat means end of the human world!

Yet another creative interpretion - and the story behind it makes sense to fit in with traditional concepts too... two thumbs up! XDD
I like his look and expression - happy/cheerful yet kind, and funky cos got all those tattoos, and yet those are there for a reason. wow. XD
I like the 18 Lohans too! They are interesting to look at; got all sorts of different face/body styles and expressions! XD

as usual for the power houses..nothing much spectacular from the way you know them...ha
initially wasnt quite sure whether to include dharma in..but hey..Tian Xia Wu Gong Chu Shao Lin wat..so without him..there wouldnt be any martial arts today..hohoho..

1st pic: The perspective looks ok to me. ^^ His face n bod are very nice. His left arm(thumbs up one) Might be a bit too long, but I'm not too sure. XP
2nd pic: I like the big beads! Makes him look more "warrior-monkish", I think. ^^
3rd pic: Wow, yes, it looks good. Got this aura of "quiet power" sort of feel. 8D
1st Pic > the perspective is abit off, i think the body is a normal front view not really look from the top and the perspective of the front leg and back leg is abit wired.
2nd pic > not bad. Maybe u wan to work on ur hand and finger is one of the importent part to show a char, haha... i was pin point by my friend last time for the hand.
3rd pic > 2 word " LOVE IT"

posted this up to show how bad i was in drawing ladies last time..this pic is one of the worst i have done..the neck shoulder hands are all off..the face an body is too skinny..i did not take reference for this pic even though i sucked at drawing girls at tat time..well the only good thing tat came out from here was the concept of the robotic arms...which i am still using..ha

hi annhell...the errors i meant was those tat i did in 2005..the neck,shoulders,the face,the build of guan yin is all wrong..and the part where the qian shou guan yin is suppose to do a praying stance is also wrong..

I like the guanyin drawings! She looks very gentle(well, except for the last one, but that one looks like a fierce warrior, which is good too. XD ), and I like the way you make her halo "techno". And the arms too, very unique! XDD
I'm wondering, though, for the 2008 version, can you show her "real/main" pair of arms as well? ie, not hidden by the sleeves. Else it might look like she's attached to some machine that is controlling her. Somehow, I think when the "real" shoulder-linked arms are shown(even if they're also robotic), it gives a stronger impression that the character is in control, ie proactive. Dunno if you understand what I mean?

Ya, I like your Lian Hua Tong Zi, and I think the bear idea is a very good one! Cos bear can be cute(like a teddy bear), yet also fearsome and powerful(like real bear); this makes him a more interesting character... great job!
Re: Wukong latest pic - Oooo, he's looking more and more "shuai"! And I can see his waist! XDD The costume design is a pretty good combination of casual and armour; the Ling Hou looks really cool too. (Btw, Ling Hou is not robotic anymore, is he?)

The first batch of fallen gods that the wu kong group will try to subdue are the weather gods--God of Thunder,God of Lighting,God of Wind and God of Rain.They are a band of musicians to control the everyday weather.

Love your chara designs, as usual, and yes, I think the 2008 ones are much improved over the 2005 ones. The "band of musicians" concept is a really good idea, and I think Lei Mu's sexy look is great, cos very unique! Her knee area can overlap a little more, methinks, cos body is soft hence the legs will, like, "rest" on each other like pillows instead of cylinders?
Overall, great work, waiting to see more! XD

For the 2005 pic, I actually don't think it's badly done at all; the expressions and details are all very nice... it's just the poses of the 2 characters are a little awkward(need to slump the spine a little more), that's all. ^^

I really enjoyed this part of the story cause i was laughing at the way the story was going while i was drawing it..ha..

Mo Li Hong（魔礼红）-Hun Yuan San(混元伞)

They are also given the nickname of "Idol Kings" (偶像天王) due to their good looks and are very popular among the female gods.They have their own fan club as well.

These are actually a personal collection of photos which Mo Li Hai treasures the most.As you can see from the 1st pic..he is slightly obese and is always the butt of all the jokes of the other heavenly kings.

hey lin,I have actually watched journey to the west and feng shen yanyi many many times.and i have a 100 chinese gods book bu lu yanguang + some chinese gods magazines i bought from newspaper stands as my references.if i really need additional info,i can always check out wikipedia!
Actually the 4 heavenly kings are not considered musical band.cause only Mo Li Hai carries a Pipa.the others carry a sword,an umbrella and a pet.
Maybe i was trained to draw under pressure.Esp in school,drawing under the teacher's noses.haha

haha..thanks Mrv..anyway i did some checks before i did the designs on the Pipa,and it says it belongs to the plucked category of instruments (弹拨乐器).so i assume having long finger nails will help them pluck the Pipa easier..hohoho..

wah..you really long time never come in le..normally i will try to post every 2-3 days..ha
so next up will be Lao Zi (老子) aka 太上老君
he is the scientist of the heavens and comes up with pills to help our heros..in game man terms..its like pills for HP+ MP+ Revive Defense Up etc etc..and he is always using wu kong as a body to test his new pills..which might not always go right..

The 2008 one definitely looks better. Costume more streamlined; hairstyle more befitting a serious scientist. Scientist idea is very good, and his face does look quite different from Wukong, Nezha etc. Good Job! ^^V

normally from wat i saw in the pictures..pipa players just strung them with their nails..ha...and i forgot bout leaving allowance for bindings..ha..will take note of tat next time..thanks a lot!
Oh ya... speech bubbles... I just scan the page into the comp and use one of those editing programs (arcsoft photostudio last time, mangastudio now) to type in the words. Hope that helps. o.o

hi everyone..
this is a mini experiment on dialogue inputing and practising of directing the flow of the story with 4 panels..
it was done with photoshop(input of words) and microsoft paint(input of speech bubbles)
some experiences on doing this..
1)should have measured the size of the 4 panels beforehand...resulted in different size panels..
2)should always plan dialogue properly down to every single word..resulted in weird conversations..

The plot is great. But it's a little wordy at some parts, I think, so loses impact a little. Maybe you can also explore making the shape of the sppech bubbles fit the mood; eg, making some "shouting" type speech bubbles, esp at the part where he's throwing a tantrum.
Also for the last panel, I do understand that its like random conversation heard from afar, but the if the speech bubble question-answer pairs are closer/placed in a more related way to each other I think it'll be better. Just now I was wondering why Li Jing was saying "Ask your mother!" to Nezha until I read further down, to the question "Dad, am I your real son?" Hence it's a little confusing. ^^;

I think for more consistency it'll be better if the Jade Emperor uses square-type bubbles for all his conversations, or not at all. If he uses the normal bubbles, it's actually alright as the placement of the bubbles will already tell the readers who is talking.
Making it a different shape in addition seems to indicate something more special(eg, in some comics, a special sort of accent, or a special "communication-type" power, eg, telephathy or sonic voice, etc )
The thought bubbles are well done, they bring the situation across clearly, and the exclamation bubbles are well used to bring out the atmosphere.
As usual, the plot/joke is great! Thumbs up! XD
