What is your routine when creating stuff?
Evening is my witching hour. It's where all the inspiration starts flowing in so normally I like to do my stuff during evenings to night. And it's nice that my house is fairly quiet and I can lock myself up in my room the whole day. Couldn't do much in a noisy place =/
The very first thing I do to prep myself is to have a fag, and pour myself a nice hot cup of chinese tea. Then I check my emails, surf around forums, kaypoh abit on MSN. I also surf around for new artwork on places like cgtalk or deviantart for inspiration.
Then after maybe half an hour, I start getting into the mood and let the party begin ^^ But I have a very short attention span so in the middle of painting/drawing whatever, I chat on MSN, play some simple games, read some fanfics or online comics. I think this takes up about half of the time I have for art which is probably why I'm so slow -_-'
So, what's YOUR routine? Do you need to have peace and quiet or are you able to create in a noisy environment? Do you draw/create when inspiration strikes, or do you do it regularly? Share share ^_^
i am extremely random and i can draw in pretty much any kind of situation
i dun have any routine at all but i always prefer to draw with ballpoint pen and to have radio (yes933) to listen
but haven been doing illustration or drawings lately
been trying out some flash animation and it's pretty fun

Mmm, I think of comic ideas while sitting in bus/train or walking to interchange after work. When I'm satisfied of the short comic/idea, I go home and open Manga Studio to draw. Then I would spend many days on it (1-2hrs each night). Recently is slower due to setting up of forums and work (sleep at 12+ wake at 6.30am..)

Hrmm I will think of the story, write and draw whenever i have the chance, and most of the time I must create my own chance, or else I will never archieve my goal.
I carry a little sketchbook with me when I'm out and usually doodle on the spot if something catches my eye. I try to draw pretty much anything, could range from a building of just someone doing everyday stuff.
Then its back home where I throw it in either flash/Painter/PS and fool around with it. But before I do that, I play a bit of my bass to warm up my hands as well as to clear my mind. I don't really listen to songs/music unless the image is inspired by a song, so its all nice and quiet.
I prefer to work in short bursts, with breaks inbetween. Rarely do I work straight without breaks, cos I know that I will miss out things that will later snowball and become a big problem. So its usually draw>> coffee break >> draw >> play bass >> draw.
And always drink kopi kao no sugar from the 24/7 coffee shop below, bitterness helps keep me awake lol.
Don't really have a specific routine, I draw as and when inspiration hits me. And some of my better ideas ended up on some random sheets of papers like my rough papers used for business presentations lol, which later then I had difficulty scanning them into my laptop.
Anytime when I'm listening to music, watching a movie or even a documentary :xD:
i don't have a routine too, when the moods are in or during my procrastination (with my real job), i tend to draw a lot :xD:
normally, music, fandoms on anime, manga, movies ,dolls or fashions will able to inspire me to do some drawing.
in case of working on my own doujinshi(self-published manga), i will do some research on the original manga again and flip through some magazine, manga, artbooks and design books to get some idea to work on~
for mine, it comes just randomly... even during lesson T^T.
*i need to find a way to get myself inspired to draw more T^T*
anyway besides wad i draw (anime, half realism pics) i love to scribble out different odd animals n monsters using simple shapes. i just started out this so i dun have this habit of scribbling more as i m half killed by my homework n my "leisure".
well i draw between/during lessons, at home when i have nothing to do o-o;.
sometime in holiday i goes... draw..eat..play..draw..eat..play..
Since i am only a "Weekend civilian", most of my drawing are done at weekends lol,
Usually i will come home, surf around the internet looking at new arts/designs done by others, thats when my drawing passion starts to burn which causes me to start drawing lol.
Sometimes will comes up with 1-2 drawing a week, other times might not lol, depend on the schedule i am on i guess~
Hmm.. my routine of drawing my stuff is mostly after watch a good anime, manga, gaming or ( this is the best part ) in office went i have really nothing to do :D haha...

I also carries a sketchbook wherever I go, the last thing I want is to find myself inspired to draw but having no paper with me. I also bring along my notebook, So that any words that came into my mind can be pen down to use for story later.
I tend to walk around often for ideas, example shopping malls and kopitiam. Other times, I would just be browsing some magazines or books. When the idea do comes, I'll scribble on sketchbooks and see how all that fits in.
Josh.
